New Developments on EU’s Clean Sky 2 Project

Development in the EU funded CleanSky2 programme is taking shape as a leading pressure scanner manufacturer completes the specification stage.

UK based, Evolution Measurement have completed the specification stage of the bespoke pressure scanners which will be used during the aircraft aerodynamic testing stage.

EvoScann® P10-D scanners will be custom-built to meet the demanding requirements of in-flight aerodynamic testing. Using 10 channels, data will be delivered in true differential measurement.

Specification has been considered to ensure precision, resolution and repeatability. The scanners will be housed in an aluminium case to ensure reliable performance whilst travelling at altitude and they will be positioned into custom-built locations on the horizontal and vertical stabilisers to deliver true accuracy levels. Scanners will also be positioned on the rakes.

Uniquely, up to 12 pressure scanners will be connected in a daisy chain, reducing the length of cable required, whilst delivering readings from each scanner, individually.

Evolution Measurement’s Managing Director, Paul Crowhurst, said, “I am so proud of the contribution our highly skilled engineering team are making, in what will be a game changer for the aircraft industry.”
Paul added, “Through Aerodynamic measurement using our EvoScann® range, we are supporting the development of sustainable air travel, increasing fuel efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions.”
